Bike Etiquette Irony
A lot of people ride their bikes here, whether for pure recreation or as general transport. Normally cyclists share lanes with cars (except during America's Most Beautiful Ride, where the cyclists tend to take over entire lanes of traffic, but that's another story), and as a cyclist myself, I try to give them room.
Today, however, I saw something unusual. A rather audacious woman cyclist, who looks suspiciously like our regional planning agency's bicycle coordinator (who, um, is supposed to be promoting good bike etiquette in addition to encouraging increased bicycle use) was spinning in the center of the right hand lane by the casinos, making it nearly impossibly for any cars to pass her without hitting the vehicles in the next lane. As I drove by, I stared at her, because it seemed so...incredible. She appeared to pull back over after a long block, but it was still so obnoxious that I was a bit concerned that an annoyed motorist might just bump her.
Sadly, it's bicyclists like that who promote negative perceptions about cyclists and road sharing with motorists.
